BitMetrics contacted ACCIÓ back in 2019, when they started the company. The solution was on an advanced TRL and they wanted to start to have commercial contacts. In that sense, a clear IP strategy was needed. In addition, they were also looking for private funding. They wanted to launch their first investment round.
The ACCIÓ – EEN team proposed BitMetrics IP protection guidance. ACCIÓ works with patents agents and provides a subsidized service for the state-of-the-art revision and freedom-to-operate reports.
The ACCIÓ – EEN team also invited BitMetrics to participate in the annual Investment Forum organized by ACCIÓ which provides direct contact with the Catalan investor’s ecosystem. BitMetrics resulted being the winner of the 2020 Investment Forum among 21 pre-selected companies. We released a press note regarding BitMetrics achievement which helped them win visibility.
Finally, BitMetrics was given the opportunity to showcase their robot at the Catalonia stand of the 4YFN congress in 2023. 4YFN (Four Years From Now) is a prominent global event dedicated to startups, held in parallel with the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. It serves as a dynamic platform for entrepreneurs, investors, corporations, and public institutions to foster innovation, collaboration, and business growth.
The ACCIÓ – EEN team identified an international collaboration opportunity for BitMetrics through the MATCHER Human Centric Innovation programme, an open innovation initiative organized by ART-ER, the EEN partner in Emilia-Romagna (Italy). The programme aims to connect local companies with international startups and scaleups to address specific technological challenges.
The ACCIÓ – EEN team informed BitMetrics about the opportunity and supported them in preparing their application and selecting the most suitable challenge. As a result, BitMetrics was matched with Tetra Pak Packaging Solutions, a global company specialized in food processing and packaging. Tetra Pak was looking for an autonomous and collaborative solution to transport product samples from the production area to the laboratory — a process that has typically relied on manual work from skilled staff.
A representative from Tetra Pak travelled to Barcelona to learn more about BitMetrics’ solution and test the technology in a real environment. The collaboration led to the purchase of the solution by Tetra Pak in December 2022. The company is now planning to test the system on a production line and continue working with BitMetrics to customize the technology to their specific needs.
In 2023 BitMetrics was selected as one out of ten of the Catalonia Exponential Leaders of that year, The Catalonia Exponential Leaders programme, organised by ACCIÓ, the Agency for Business Competitiveness of the Government of Catalonia, is an annual initiative designed to identify and promote the most disruptive and innovative companies in Catalonia. The programme focuses on startups and established companies that are leading digital transformation and technological innovation in fields such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data, and other emerging technologies
Being part of the Exponential Leaders provided BitMetrics with visibility, connection with other international innovation ecosystems, and participation at the Innovation disruption boot camp to work on the company value proposition.
“I wanted to thank you for your time and support during our participation at 4YFN. Although it wasn't our first time attending, this edition with you has been excellent, and that is undoubtedly thanks to all the support and facilities you provided, allowing us to take part in record time — including bringing our robot with all the technical and space requirements that this implicitly involves.” - Mar Masuli, CEO at Bitmetrics.
